A Question

I realized I probably need to define my goal of writing a chapter of Lorelei a week by determining how long a chapter should be. But I really don't know. 3,000 words? 5,000? Help!!!

  1. Personally, when I write chapters, I find that the best idea is to set a minimum-- a not very high minimum-- and a very high maximum. Others may disagree, but I don't think it's a good idea to segment my chapters into fairly consistent chunks-- it makes a little too routine and monotone and also really discourages writing by ear or by feel of chapter. I could be wrong though!

    1. That's kinda how I was leaning, but I wasn't sure because I hadn't heard that view from anyone else. But I feel like you should write the story and stop when you finish telling it, for chapters as well as the novel itself. Thanks, Bella=)

  2. Actually, I was writing a short story that was 4,200 words or more in it, and it ended up only being eleven pages long. I would suggest 4,200 if your chapters are going to be long, but if they are going to be short try going for 3,000.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Carly!! I definitely think I'm going with shorter chapters, just because I don't want the story to be over quickly!!! x) I love it so much^_^

    2. Kay! Try for 3,000 or 2,000. They should be short enough, or if you want them really short, go for one thousand. :))) Love your posts!
